About Geneva

Geneva is located between the Alps and the Jura mountains, with a backdrop of Lake Geneva, the Mont Blanc mountain and the Rhone river. There are many possibilities for excursions in the nearby countryside and mountains.  More information on our Tourism page.

French is the official language spoken in Geneva, with many hotels, restaurants and shops also speaking English and German.

In March, Geneva is in the time zone of Central Europe (Greenwich GMT +1).

The currency is Swiss Francs (CHF). One Franc is divided into 100 centimes. 1 USD = approx. 1.2 CHF.  Most credit cards are accepted in the majority of hotels, restaurants and shops.  Service is included in the bill in restaurants and bars in Switzerland, but it is customary to leave small change.

Mobile phone GSM 900 and 1800 networks cover the whole country. It is illegal to use a hand-held mobile telephone while driving.
